IKEA and Royal Cosun partner for sustainable innovations

The mission at Royal Cosun[OvdHN2] is to unlock the full potential of plants in a circular way. They foster innovation partnerships to solve the world’s biggest challenges. With their 67 business[OvdHN3] groups, customers, knowledge institutes, startups and investment funds building a vibrant ecosystem in which we define forward thinking solutions.
Both innovative products and ingredients respond to societal transitions related to climate change, replacing fossil raw materials, protein alternatives and the growing demand for (healthier) food. With challenges, open calls, events and venturing we can reach our goals together.
Under the umbrella of a Joint Development Agreement, both partners team to deliver next generation sustainable and circular materials to drive the transition and enable a healthy future for people, planet and profit. In all areas of food, packaging and plant based solutions for furniture ingredients, collaboration are key to deliver the commitments for the both leading companies.
Since 2020, IKEA and Cosun agreed on an innovation partnership to utilize both organizations strength and capabilities to drive innovation together. In spring 2023 the partnership is reinforced with joint effort and goals to deliver an increased share of plant based food offerings, for example should 50% of main meals offered in the IKEA restaurants to be plant-based. There is also an interesting opportunity to explore furniture materials from agri and food production side streams.
